November Events

Novevember 4:

This Sunday we will be helping the Oxford Kiwanis Club with their annual Canned Food Drive. This food drive helps to supply the new Shared Food Pantry with the canned foods and other food supplies that it needs to help provide food for families in need over the holidays.

We will meet at my office parking lot at the Oxford Professional Building on the corner of Fairfield and McGuffey Roads (across from the TRI) at about 12:45PM. We will be working with some other community groups to cover the neighborhoods of Southern Knolls, Western Knolls, and Lantern Ridge along with the Quail Ridge and White Oak Drive areas. These are very safe and secure neighborhoods that our groups have worked before.

After we collect the food, we will return to the Presbyterian Seminary Church on the corner of Church and Poplar Streets (across from the hospital) for refreshments and food sorting. Our part should be done by 3:00PM, but you can stay longer if you wish.

Saturday, November 10:

Oxford Cemetery Clean Up - 8:00AM until about 11:00AM. (on 27 just south of Oxford.)

Saturday, November 17:

Space Derby at 2:00 , Collinsville

Happy 4th of July!

(Picture by Mrs. Rouff; click the picture for a close up)

Congratulations to Pack 961 on their award winning 4th of July float! We had a great turnout with over 30 scouts participating! The design was inspired by the famous "Iwo Jima" monument. It featured patriotic music, over 30 flags, and an actual mountain! Thank you to DS DeWitt and Shademakers for providing the materials and to all the leaders and their families who helped with its construction.

The next Pack event is at "Wally World" on August 4th for go-karts, putt putt, and more! Initial tickets will be provided by the Pack but scouts may wish to bring money for extra rides and or snacks. Den Leaders will have more information as the date approaches.

Any families who are interested in camping that weekend at nearby Whitewater State Park should make their reservations with Den Leaders by Saturday July 21st. Cost for camping is $21 a night. This includes electric hook-up and bath house. WE HOPE YOU CAN ATTEND WALLY WORLD EVEN IF YOU CANT CAMP.

Spring Camp Out

Any way you look at it the Pack 961 Spring Camp out was a huge success: orienteering, geology, hay rides, river stomping, foil dinners, skits, and even a game of 'Quiddich!' In addition to earning map & compass, wildlife conservation, and geology belt loops all scouts in attendance earned their 'Whittling Chip' and received a pocket knife thanks to Mr. Neyman. A special thanks must also go the Drakes for letting us camp at their farm! Hope to see you in August for the Whitewater State Park camping trip (and possible visit to 'Wally World') or at the Fall Camp out; tentatively Sept 14th-16th at Yager Stadium for the Miami football game.
