Where the Wild Things Were!

Happy Halloween! Pack 961 braved the Haunted Hueston Woods this weekend for hiking, camping, and 'trick or treating.' The weather was beautiful despite the cold nights which we survived by gathering closer around the fire for s'mores. The fire (& the beans) also helped keep the zombies away!

After an entertaining evening of skits and storytelling there was even a "Mummy" making contest! Good thing we had extra Mummy Paper!

Thanks to all our leaders, boy scouts, and parents for making this weekend such a success! We'll see you November 1st at the Drake Farm for the next Pack event!

Over 30 Scouts from each Den marched behind the float carrying their colors.....While Boy Scout and 'Denner' Jason rocked out with his interpretation of "America the Beautiful" on electric guitar. 2007-2008 Video Album

There were several requests for access to the video displayed at the Blue & Gold Banquet. In order to make it postable I've broken it up into two segments: one for the Pinewood Derbies, and one for the other activities.

Enjoy!

Pancake Day !

As you know Oxford Kiwanis is Pack 961's biggest sponsor. We understand that this is Little League opening day and that many scouts also have soccer or other commitments at this busy time of year. Any help our scouts can provide is welcome; even if its just a half an hour. Wear your uniform if you can and sign in at the volunteer table. What a great way to give back to the group that gives so much to us!

District Pinewood Derby

It starts with a block of wood, a boy, and his dad. For 150 scouts from all across the Fort Hamilton Scout District it ended at Talawanda Middle School on April 5. At this years derby, an annual scouting tradition for more than 50 years, we had a record four tracks, one for each rank. Virtual speeds reached over 220 miles per hour! Cars were also awarded for best design. This year's cars included authentic NASCARs, hot rods, and even a red dragon! Scouts could view a display of pinewood cars from the last century and see monster trucks, formula one racers, and Police SWAT vehicles on display. We would like to thank our many sponsors and volunteers including: Oxford Kiwanis, Talawanda City Schools, Miami University, and Oxford Kroger. You went THE DISTANCE!
